First excursion form Chachapoyas went to Kuélap, that is also called Machu Picchu of North Peru. It’s a big pre inka fortress on the top of a hill in the surrounding cloud forest. A big stone wall (up to 20 meters) with only a few entrance possibilities compassed about 420 stone huts and different religious buildings on several terraces.
Aside from the impressive remains of the complex I liked that the whole area is overgrown by trees and plants, which makes for a quite mystic scenery. Not very much tourists around, too. Just have a look at the pics as I am still far behind my actual location with this blog and want to change that.
