Tierra del Fuego III – The Ferry

Puerto Williams is far in the South of Chile. And there is no road connection to the continent. Thus a weekly ferry supports the town (and the island). Aside form the cargo, it also take a few passengers through it’s amazing journey along “fjords, glaciers, everlasting snow-covered peaks, rivers and seas“.

This description says it all: We navigated through the Beagle Channel and the Strait of Magellan. An amazing landscape of water, mountains and the sky. Passed several glaciers touching the sea. We even saw whales. Amazing. Together with a great service on board from the crew these 36 hours were totally worth every second.

Stayed a day in Punta Arenas, where I took a stroll through the town, visited the graveyard and a accompanied Olivier to the duty free zone of the town. Thanks Olivier for the company on the ferry and in Punta Arenas. Happy travels. Then I headed north to Buenos Aires.
