El Calafate is the icy town of Patagonia. Not because it is so cold there, but because it is very close to some stunning glaciers in Argentina. We decided to approach these vast amounts of ice by a lazy full day boat trip on Lago Argentina.<\/p>\n

On the way...<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

First the boat went into the direction of the Upsala glacier. Before even coming close to the glacier, icebergs were blocking any way further. Small and big ones, shining in all different blue colors, this was an amazing sight.<\/p>\n

Off we went to the glacier Spegazzini, a hanging glacier and a big wall of ice. Up to 30 meters above the lake and we were told that it is another 100 meters under the water level.<\/p>\n

The day ended with the visit at the Perito Moreno glacier. Up to 60 meters above the water level. Five (!) kilometers wide. It is actually so big that it is difficult to grasp it’s size.<\/p>\n
