First stop in Borneo was Kuching, where I met Stephen, a funny Australian. Hearing that he was headed for Mulu to climb the Pinnacles there, I decided to speed up a bit and booked a flight to Mulu the same day then he. Which left me one day to discover the Bako National Park.<\/p>\n

The park contains almost every type of vegetation found in Borneo. The hiking trails are thus passing through a lot of different ecosystems: From sandy beaches over grassland to dense jungle with little rivers.<\/p>\n

I opted for a round trip, that encompassed all seven ecosystems of the park. Had a swim in a river pond. Saw some crabs at the beach. Sweated in the hot jungle. Was sometimes reminded about hikes in Sweden, when passing over sandy trails.<\/p>\n

The park is famous for being home to the endangered proboscis monkeys, that are endemic to Borneo. And I was lucky, ’cause I saw a lot of them. Check :-) And some Macaques as well.<\/p>\n
