Hm, this seems to become a pattern: The first days of a new trip feels quite<\/a> tough<\/a>. Maybe I am just growing old, maybe it’s a natural emotional reaction, maybe there is more<\/a> and more<\/a> to miss back home. Anyhow, it took me some time to adjust being back in South America. This time only for four weeks. But with my dad!<\/p>\n

Back in Lima. Back in Amercia del Sur!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

We started our trip in Lima, Peru. Where we had a wonderful greeting by the Peruvian Government. The whole Placa de Armas was decorated with German flags, a brass band was playing and we were supposed to walk the red carpet into the Palacio de Gobierno. Very friendly, but we preferred a more relaxed start an asked our President and his wife to take over<\/a> ;-)<\/p>\n

Instead, we had some relaxed strolls in the city. Admired the beautiful buildings and churches. Had a coffee here and there. Naturally, my dad tried the famous Pisco Sour!<\/p>\n

Returning from a delicious dinner at the Bircher Benner<\/a> restaurant, music led us the way to the Parque Central de Miraflores. It was amazing: Old and young locals were dancing to wonderful live music.<\/p>\n

In between the dances they sang a birthday song. And recited a “Our Father” for a passed one. Then, all returned to the beautiful dancing. Sorrow and joy. Love and so much life. Made me cry some tears of joy. @Melanie: Would have loved to hold you in my arms and share this beautiful moment with you, maybe I would have even asked you for a dance… <\/strong> This is South America! It feels good. And as promised<\/a>, I am back . Yeah!<\/p>\n

Before leaving for Arequipa, we met Esther (my favorite flat mate from the time studying in Darmstadt) and visited Huaca Pucllana, where we had a delicious lunch with a very nice view. Ridiculous, that Esther and I have not seen for several years although we both live in Germany but manage to meet in Lima. Guess, I am becoming a real globetrotter ;-)<\/p>\n
