Due to heavy snow falls back in Germany Elli got stuck in Madrid. First it looked like I had to spent Christmas alone because the next free seat form Madrid to Lima was on the 26th of December. But luckily Elli managed to get a flight on the 23rd. And I got my perfect Christmas present! Yeah! Man was I happy!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I wish you some peaceful days with joy and laughter, a blessed Christmas, and a fantastic new year! May it be full of delight, love, and happiness!
4 CommentsTime was running fast and I decided to head towards Lima, so that I would be there in time before Elli would arrive on the 21th of December. Thus, Trujillo was only a day stop for me as I decided to take the next night bus to Huaraz directly to have some time for hiking there.
Leave a CommentThe second excursion Simone and I did from Chachapoyas was a hiking trip to the Gocta waterfall. As always I enjoyed the hike a lot. We went on a nice trek through beautiful cloud forest. I was lucky and got a glimpse of the Cock-of-the-Rock, Peru’s national bird.
Leave a CommentFirst excursion form Chachapoyas went to Kuélap, a big pre inka fortress on the top of a hill in the surrounding cloud fores.
Leave a CommentIn Vilcabamba I met Simone again, who was also heading south. So we decided to travel together to Peru over the small border at La Balsa.
4 CommentsAfter all the traveling it was time for some relaxed time. So Babsi and I went to Vilcabamba, a town where people grew very old. Stayed in the nice Hosteria Izhcayluma a few kilometers outside of the town. Very nice place for a longer stay.
3 CommentsNext stop on the way South was Cuenca, a colonial city. After a look at the nice city we went shopping. Babsi was looking for a hat for her mother so we went to THE hatter of Cuenca who is manufacturing the famous Panama hats. Afterward I was looking for a nice Christmas present for Elli.
Leave a CommentWent up early in the morning to get the transfer to the lodge where I would meet Babsi and our guide for the climbing of Cotopaxi, which is one of the highest active volcanoes in the world.
7 CommentsAfter the hike around the Laguna Quilotoa Claudia und I did not feel too good so we headed back to Quito to see a doctor. Of course, I stayed in Casa Bambu again. Thanks to all the awesome people staying there for the very warm welcome I got! And the caring over the next few days! Helped a lot!
