The Salar de Uyuni: Biggest salt flat of the world. An amazing landscape, both at sunset and in bright sunlight. Getting there by quad was adding some adrenaline to the beauty.

In Potosí I took i tour to one of the mines in the close by Cerro Rico (rich mountain), which was a shocking experience. The working conditions are just inhuman.

On the way down we stopped in Sucre. And stayed a bit longer than planned, as I did not feel too good. Sucre is a nice colonial city and we stayed in the Pachamama hostel which was perfect for a few relaxed days.

Nuestra Señora de La Paz. Big city. More than two million people living here. As I normally don’t like big cities I was skeptical. However, it was totally different this time. I don’t know why, but I loved the city and would return anytime!

Next stop was Rurrenabaque. The next three days I went into the Pampa near Santa Rosa. An awesome landscape with a lot of wildlife.

After two relaxed days in La Paz it was time for some action. So we decided to go for some bike riding on the North Yungas Road, also known as “Camino de la Muerte” or “Death Road”.

Finally, it was time to leave Arequipa for the next city and the next country: La Paz, Bolivia!

Staying in Arequipa for a longer time I felt the need to do some sports. As I missed training Karate since I left Darmstadt I tried to find a Dojo in Arequipa. And was lucky! After some Google queries I found the Dojo of Sensei Mario Ramirez Paredes. 8. DAN, Shotokan!

Leaving Huacachina I met with Claudia again on the bus to Arequipa. After finding a hostel we booked a four day tour to the Colca Canyon starting directly on the next day. Thanks Claudia for coming all the way down to Arequipa and for getting me on this tour. Did so good not be alone for a few days and I deeply enjoyed the hike!

On the way back to Lima we had time for a night in Arequipa. Walking hand in hand at sunshine is a really nice way to spend a day. Romantic greetings from a lovely city.

Next stop was the Lake Titicaca. We took a tourist bus for the way from Cusco to Puno, that stopped at different sights along the way. Unfortunately we had to get up very early to get the bus, so we arrived quite tired in Puno, which resulted that we slept quite long the next day, as neither of us wanted to get up.

Due to heavy snow falls back in Germany Elli got stuck in Madrid. First it looked like I had to spent Christmas alone because the next free seat form Madrid to Lima was on the 26th of December. But luckily Elli managed to get a flight on the 23rd. And I got my perfect Christmas present! Yeah! Man was I happy!

Time was running fast and I decided to head towards Lima, so that I would be there in time before Elli would arrive on the 21th of December. Thus, Trujillo was only a day stop for me as I decided to take the next night bus to Huaraz directly to have some time for hiking there.

The second excursion Simone and I did from Chachapoyas was a hiking trip to the Gocta waterfall. As always I enjoyed the hike a lot. We went on a nice trek through beautiful cloud forest. I was lucky and got a glimpse of the Cock-of-the-Rock, Peru’s national bird.

In Vilcabamba I met Simone again, who was also heading south. So we decided to travel together to Peru over the small border at La Balsa.

After all the traveling it was time for some relaxed time. So Babsi and I went to Vilcabamba, a town where people grew very old. Stayed in the nice Hosteria Izhcayluma a few kilometers outside of the town. Very nice place for a longer stay.
